Google Adsense is one of the easiest and quickest ways to make money online. It is as simple as following the Google Adsense rules, putting the code on your pages, filling in your information on where you want the checks sent, and sitting back and watching the money come in. However one thing you need to do is find ways to make more money with your Google Adsense. One way you can do this is by targeting certain audiences. So the big question is do you make more money with repeat visitors or with new visitors? In order to answer that question we need to do a bit of research to figure out what is best.
The myth that most people have heard is that repeat visitors start to become blind to your ads because they’ve seen them so much. They know the location of the ads and they would usually skip over them as compared to new visitors. However when looking at it more closely there wasn’t a huge difference between revenue from new visitors vs. repeat visitors.
CTR – when looking at Click Through Rate it appears New Visitors get the most clicks but Return Visitors are a close 2nd with 95% of the clicks compared to new visitors. Example if CTR for New Visitors was 0.02% then the CTR for Return Visitors was 0.019.
eCPM - when looking at the Effective Cost per Thousand we see similar results. New Visitors get the most earnings but Repeat Visitors make about 80% of the earnings compared to New Visitors.
Therefore the myth seems to be a bit off. Yes – new visitors click on your ads more but not much more than repeat visitors. New visitors are looking through your site and clicking on things so they are bound to click on your ads. However the repeat visitors include RSS readers and social media traffic. So you need to consider that those RSS readers will not be seeing your ads on your site at all.
So in conclusion don’t count out your repeat visitors to be making you money with Google Adsense. They may click on your ads a bit less but they may get intrigued by your ads and still click on them.
